Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery (RALS) in Pediatric Urology
Submit Manuscript on this topicIndexed Articles
Description
Robotic-assisted surgery in pediatric urology is rapidly evolving and increasingly complex procedures are being undertaken. Its technology has facilitated laparoscopic surgery using the advantages of the minimally invasive approach but avoiding the restrictions of laparoscopic surgery. Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery (RALS) has been reported in pediatric urology in a wide range of procedures, particularly involving kidneys, ureters and bladder reconstructive procedures. In this Research Topic, we review the current indications and results of robotics in the management of pediatric pathology. Current controversial topics center around its cost and its comparative effectiveness with conventional laparoscopy and open surgery.
The aim of this Research topic is to review the current role of RALS in pediatric urology and to better establish the benefits of RALS in pediatric urology.
